Our hotel has a unique concept, where in addition to providing you with an unforgettable stay, we operate around the hands-on training and coaching of Young Professionals in the hospitality sector.

In September 2016 we started our own educational training program together with the ROC (Regional Education Center) of Amsterdam. The students receive training and coaching in all departments of the hotel. All of our employees are passionate about the program and are trained specially to fulfil this special role. All of the Young Professionals have a step-by-step objective in each department with time scheduled in for daily feedback and learning moment.

The College Hotel offers students a practical work experience with a highly qualified hotel: a hotel with a history! Large windows and the architectural style bring to mind the days before this building was a hotel, but a boys’ school.

Air-conditioning
All of our rooms are equipped with air-conditioning for your convenience the AC has different options i.e. heating mode, cool mode, fan mode. In case you would like to heat up your room, select the sun icon. To cool down your room, select the freeze icon please note that 19 degrees is the lowest possible temperature, keep in mind that the blow out temperature is below 19 degrees.

Canal Cruise
Amsterdam has several different companies that operate a number of different canal cruises and tours through-out the city. The majority of the canal cruises last approximately 60-75 minutes. Depending on the season, there are different variations and events. For example, in December and January, Amsterdam’s canals are lit up after dark by the Amsterdam Light Festival sculptures. You may also choose to book an evening cruise or a dinner cruise. Please inquire our Concierge desk, where we are delighted to help you choose and book the canal cruise that fits best for you. We also have a number of brochures with some examples to inspire you.

Check In
The check-in time is at 15:00 (3pm). Should you wish to check in earlier, please contact the reception prior to your arrival via [email protected] or by calling to 020 571 15 11, so we can check the availability for an earlier check-in. If the room is not available when you arrive at the hotel, we are happy to store your luggage in our supervised Luggage Room.

The check-out time is 12:00 (12pm). If you wish to check out later, please contact the reception to see what the possibilities are. Based upon availability, we will see what we are able to offer. You may also choose to leave your luggage with us in our supervised Luggage Room.

Do Not Disturb
Should you prefer not to have your room serviced by our housekeeping department or not to be disturbed during your stay, please use the privacy sign by hanging it on the outside of the door. The Do Not Disturb card can be found hanging on the inside of your room door. Generally, we will honor your request for privacy; however, we reserve the right to enter the guest room for safety, security and maintenance.

Emergency Procedure
In the case of an emergency, we kindly request you to gather at the designated meeting point as quickly as possible. The meeting point is directly to the right of the hotel when you exit via the main entrance, on the corner of the Floris Balthazar Street. Please refer to the emergency plan near the entrance in your room on how to find the nearest emergency exit from your room.

Housekeeping
In addition to servicing your room daily, our housekeeping department is available for other services as well. Should you wish to have your room serviced, extra pillows or duvets, a baby cot or an extra bed, please let us know. We also have different kinds of anti-allergic pillows and bedding that can be delivered to your room. In order to help protect our environment, we change the linens on your bed every other day. Should you wish to have your towels replaced, please leave these on the floor or in the bathtub or shower. Housekeeping is available during the day from 9:00 (9am) to 16:00 (4pm). Outside of these operating hours, please contact the reception for further assistance. Our Housekeeping team will service your room each day. If you prefer not to have your room serviced, please use the Do not disturb sign. If you decide later on in the day that you would like to have your room refreshed, please use the other side of the privacy sign, which indicates “Please clean my room.”

Each room type has a different minibar arrangement. In the superior room types, minibar items are available for purchase upon request. Please contact the reception and we will bring your requested items to the room. The deluxe rooms have a pre-stocked minibar with non-alcoholic beverages, which are included in the room rate. In our junior suites, the minibar is filled with non-alcoholic drinks as well as beer and wine. The minibar items are also included in the room rate.

The College Hotel is located in Amsterdam’s Museum Quarter. Some of the world’s most famous museums, such as the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum, are within walking distance from the hotel. Bon bini na Mondi! Mondi is The College Hotel’s exciting exotic restaurant. Here you can enjoy shared fine-dining and soul food in which Caribbean cuisine and culture are central. Masterchef Justin Niessen brings his culinary successes and new trendsetters to the capital. By combining his Curaçao roots with the influences of the Amsterdam melting pot, he provides a surprising menu: Caribbean Soulfood with a French twist and an edge of Mokum’s bravado. In addition, you can start your weekend right by enjoying our DJ on Friday evening. Dive in and taste the sun! Tropical design At Mondi you can enjoy the best the Caribbean has to offer. And that goes beyond your plate, the decoration also breathes the warmth of the Caribbean wave. Interior designer Martijn de Goede has translated the atmosphere of the Mondi into the interior in materials as well as in colors and patterns. Natural tones are interspersed with lavish design panels with botanical prints. Art from the islands adorns the walls and large exotic plants and palms complete the special holiday feeling. Please contact the concierge in order to make arrangements for taxi service. You may choose to order in advance by calling the reception or request for a taxi in person. Depending on your destination and how busy it is, your taxi will pull up to the hotel between 5 and 10 minutes after ordering and will bring you to your desired destination.

Umbrella
Amsterdam’s weather isn’t always warm and sunny. In order to ensure that you stay dry, you may pick up an umbrella from the Reception. Please return the umbrella back to the Reception when you no longer require it. We will place a deposit on the room account of € 25 which will be removed once returned.
